Christchurch Pilot Has 18½ Enemy Planes
(Received 2.30 p.m.) (Special) LONDON, September 30. R. B. Hesselyn (Christchurch) has been promoted flight-lieutenant'. He recently shot down another FockeWulf 190 when, with the wing led by Wing-Commander .W. V. C. Compton which was escorting Marauders attacking an aerodrome in northern France, 15 Focke-Wulfs appeared and Hesselyn chased one down to lowlevel and saw the German crash. It makes his score 181 enemy planes destroyed.
