Germans Resist In Corsican Passes
(8.0. W. Noon.) RUGBY, Sept. 30 Despite demolitions and minefields, a shock battalion of patriots is pursuing the enemy from Aleria and Folelli and there is some activity west of Eastia and Sacamozza, states a Corsica communique. The French Air Force successfully attacked a convoy off Bastia and five French fighters intercepted an important enemy formation of bombers. Three of the enemy were destroyed and one damaged. A French communique, issued in Algiers, said the area in Corsica occupied by the Germans has been reduced to the Bastia, Borgo and Folleli region. The enemy is trying to hold the Teghime and San Stefano passes. French troops on "the east coast forced the Germans to retreat between Aleria and Folleli and also to evacuate the mountains bjetwen Carte and the Sea..
