Rugby.—Flying-Officer Eric Grant played for the R.AJT. v. South Wales on September 25. It was a draw, nine all. FlightSergeant I. Dustin (Palmerston North) was a reserve forward.
Indian Congratulations.—A message of congratulations to the R.A.F. on the third anniversary of the Battle of Britain has been received from Air Commodore His Highness the Nawab of Bhopal, who has placed at the disposal of the Air Com-mander-in-Chief, India, 100,000 rupees for the prosecution of the war and a further 10,000 rupees for amenities for units of the R.A.F. and Indian Air Force in Bhopal.
Returned:—Madrid radio says 650 volunteers from the Spanish Blue Division have returned; to Spain from the Russian front.
Crashed. —Twenty passengers, including American officers and men, were killed when an American transport plane crashed near Calcutta.
