BEAR NORTHLANDERS, Seems like old times writing you a ietter from Whangarei. I've spent the week-end with friends—trying to sleep off the effects of elections. I've brought Princess with me, really for a holiday, although I'm afraid she's been working nearly as hard as: I have these last few days. Wc did take a little time off on Saturday afternoon, when I was at Kaikohe to visit Ngavvha springs. Very interesting too. A sort of miniature Rotorua, without any geysers. Wish we'd had more time to explore. 1 believe there's one pool there that tastes just like lemon drink. Imagine it—an inexhaustible supply of lemon drink. Wish I had it in my back yard don't you? We met one patient undergoing treatment at Ngawha. He was a spaniel, and past the age of youthfulness. For some reason he had lost all the hair off his back, and the owner sent him all the way from Auckland with a promise of £2O to the Ngavvha staff if they could cure his pet. That £2O is as good as earned. Nearly every day somebody takes the dog and plasters mud packs all over him and then dips him into a special mineral pool. Until we were told we thought he was quite normal dog and not a patient at all, for almost all his hair had grown again. Princess suggests a short course of treatment for me! This letter's growing, but space is scarce. I must away. Best wishes to all of you. KUPE Kangitira, Northland Tribe
