Maungakaramea
The W.C.T.U. hold their monthly meeting in the church hall on Tuesday afternoon. A good number of members and visitors were present. The president (Mrs. Weir) was in the chair. She exnlained that the meeting would be a thanksgiving one to celebrate the jubilee of the women's franchise. The roll-call was "Famous women of the Bible." . Mrs. Harvey gave a very interesting report of the W.C.T.U. conference in connection with the W.F. jubilee. There were nine women present who had recorded their vote 50 years ago.Mrs. Hamilton Walker and >lrs. Harvey rendered solos. ;., , „■ •„ Six members represented the W.C.T.U. conference in Whangarei. A happy social hour was spent during the afternoon tea. There was a good response and sale at a bring and buy.
