Latest N.Z. Election Figures

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The following are final electoral returns which have been made available by the chief electoral officer after counting ceased shortly after midnight on Saturday night. All returns include voting by the forces. These figures have come to hand since publication of the “Northern Advocate’s" special election supplement, which includes totals announced up to Sunday evening. In all cases recounts, together with the inclusion of absentee, postal votes and seamen’s votes, will result in alterations, and usually several weeks elapse after an election before the final figures are known, In cases where majorities in the preliminary counts have been close, figures in the supplement should be checked with those in this column, which are the latest up to the time of going to press: STATE OF THE PARTIES LABOUR 44 NATIONAL 34 INDEPENDENT NAT. ... 1 INDEPENDENT 1 Corrected figures, for Otaki electorate are:

This gives the sitting Government member, Mr. Lowry, a majority of 59, whereas last night his Nationalist opponent, Mr. B. V. Cooksley, held a lead of 141. Other Electorates

Hawke’s Bay: F. L. Cullen <L.), 6253; E. N. Pryor (N.), 4825- D. H Butcher (D.L.P.), 242; J. H'. Winrer (I.), 142. Majority for Cullen, 1428.

Roberts Increases Majority

With the inclusion of the sole outstanding booth in Wairarapa, the sitting Labour member, Mr. B. Roberts, has increased his majority from 50 to 87. The amended figures are: Roberts 4391, J. J. Maher (N.) 4304, R. E. Crawford (D.L.P.) 384. H. Smithson (I.) 113.

In Oamaru, the minority of the Minister for Health (Mr. A. H. Nordmeyer) has been reduced from 26 to six. The latest figures are: T. R. Beatty (N.) 4600. Nordmeyer (Lab.) 4594, G. P. Curtiss (I.) 1542, G. Barclay (D.L.P.) 319.
