Servicemen Give Labour Majority
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. An analysis of services polling for 76 European electorates discloses the following distribution of votes among the parties: Labour 38,622, National 24,794, Democratic Labour 4887, all others 3096. A total of 71,399 service votes were cast. The Labour Party received the majority of service votes, except in 18 electorates. These were: Riccarton, Remuera, Stratford, Rangitikei, Kaipara, Egmont, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, Waipawa, Waitomo, Christchurch North, Waikato, Pahiatua, Franklin, Hauraki, Clutha, Manawatu and Central Otago.
