“The Thief Of Bagdad”
Filmed in glorious technicolor and displaying all the magic of the Seven Great Wonders of the Age, the Arabian fantasy, “Thief of Bagdad," was shown at the Regent last evening, when exclamations of surprise and appreciation were given as each exquisite scene unfolded. The charming glimpses of the Eastern bazaar; the flying horse; the magic carpet; the king whom the wicked genii makes blind and who is cured of his affliction so that he once more can see the beautiful princess; the shipwreck; the ruby eye of the idolall these and many other unforgettable sequences make the film one of the most flawless and colourful ever presented. Sabu, as the lovable little thief, conquers fresh fields and scores fresh triumphs. Other members of this amazing Korda production are Conrad Veidt and June Duprez. The supports include an interesting study of young life, also one of the popular series of "Unusual Occupations.” The whole programme is 100 per cent, entertainment value, and one which can be heartily recommended.
