Kaikohe Dental Clinic To Have Second Nurse
KAIKOHE, This Day. "It is the exception rather than the rule for children commencing school in the prinn rs not to attend the dental clinic," said the headmaster cf the Kaikohe District High School (Mr M. Cox) interviewed yesterday. Approximate response in the primer classes was 99 per cent, and ii was not compulsory. Work on the alterations to the clinic was commenced a week ago and was completed yesterday, the clinic having b>-en converted from B grade to A grade. Instead of the one nurse as formerly, two will now be necessary, an additional dentist’s chair and new apparatus having been installed. The double surgery has an extra nine feet of floor space. Approximately 400 children are being treated at the clinic, this number including pupils from the Kaikohe D.H.S., the Kaikohe Native, G'haeawai, Ngawlia and To Aim Ahu. The enlargement will allow for the attendance of Awarua, Tautoro and Taheke children, these pupils from outlying districts being conveyed to the clinic once every term. Children eligible for treatment in a school clinic are those who are in primary classes and who have attended clinic since they were in the primers.
In addition to the school children, a large number of pre-school children over the age of three years from the entire district are also treated bv the school dental nurse (Mrs N. Par ton)’.- '
