Whangarei Methodists’ 77th Anniversary
The 77th anniversary of the Whanyarei Methodist Church was celebrated yesterday, when Rev. G. Gardner Brown. chaplain to the forces, recently returned from the Midddle East, was the speaker at three services. During the morning service Mr. J. W. George welcomed the Rev. Gardner Brown back to Whangarei after 23 years. Misses M„ 0., and V. Lane rendered a trio, and Master D. Silk gave the reading. In the afternoon. Rev. Gardner Erown spoke to the members of the Men's Fellowship on his experiences in the Middle East, which proved to be of very great interest to those present. The evening service was again conducted by the Rev. Gardner Brown, who gave a very inspiring address to an exeellent eongregati ott. Miss A Hills sang. “Jerusalem. Jerusalem" and the choir presented the anthem, “Behold, I stand at the Door." Mrs. E. J. Dane presided at the organ for both morning and evening services. The celebrations are to be continued on Tuesday afternoon and evening, when Rev. Bard nor Brown will be the speaker qt both £atherings,
