Aberdeen Angus Cattle For North

North Auckland cattle breeders recently made a number of important purchases oi' Aberdeen Angus sires from leading Waikato studs, from the Tauwhare stud of Messrs. Morrison Bros., an exceptionally thick and even rising two-year-old stud bull, with a splendid head, was purchased at. what is probably a record price for the North, by Mr. W. Irnrns, of Okaihau. This Tauwhare-bred bull was by that notable imported sire, Blackcap Echo Quality, who was also purchased in his day at a record price by Messrs. Morrison Bros., while his dam. Eclypta 2214, was bred in the old-established Turihaua herd of Mr. H. B. Williams. Gisborne, on whose females lhe Tauwhare herd was established. From the Teekcwn stud of Mr. F. C. Bush, Peria, Matamata, a fine type of the modern Aberdeen Angus, a low set. thick, square and deep-fleshed bull of much quality was also purchased by Mr. Imms at a substantial three-figure price, This bull, Doddy of Tcekewn. is by Mr. Bush’s noted imported sire, Baron Ensign 2nd, while his dam. Scandal of Koiro, is by another famous imported sire in Hayston Bright Print, for whom 1000 guineas was paid in Scotland. There are no less than six crosses of imported blood close up in this bull’s pedigree. In addition to the two outstanding sales noted, Messrs. Wright. Stephenson & Co.. Ltd., were also responsible for selling three other two-year-old Teekewn bulls on account of Mr. Bush to the R. J. 801 l estate. Te Karaka, Dargaville, and a further six were also secured by Mr. Morgan Richards, the manager of this estate, from Mr. H. Lopdale’s herd at Putnruru. All of these bulls were of good type, well developed, and were undoubtedly a credit to the Waikato studs in which they were bred, and which it is very pleasing to see are now corning into their own.
