Parcels For P.O.W. In Italy
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. On account of the military situation surrounding Italy, the Prisoners-of-War Inquiry Office was cabled regarding next-of-kin quarterly parcels for prisoner:; located there, The British Red Cross have advised that they are temporarily holding up the despatch of further cigarettes and other narcels to Italy in the hope.of the position becoming much clearer. Next-of-kin are advised that parcels for Italian camps posted in the last few days are now being" held in respective packing centres at Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland and Dunedin, and next-of-kin who have a label in hand in connection with the quarterly parcel for Italy are requested to hold it and not pest the parcel until the inquiry office receives further information* from tire International Red Cross. Advice received from the International Red Cress at Geneva that an acknowledgment card had been received signed by British prisoners representative at Stalag VIII.B acknowledging receipt of a consignment of 3600 razor blades from Geneva, which were part of regular despatch of blades arranged and paid for from the sick and wounded section of the national patriotic funds.
