Northland Bowling Centred Season
Despite difficulties in travelling and othi'i’ wartime factors, the North Attcklanc. Bowling Centre had a successful year, stated the president (Mr. C. L. Nisbet), in his report, to the annual meeting, which was well attended by delegates The weather had been particularly favourable and all tournaments well supported. For the annual tournament there had been a record entry with HO teams in the full rink, and 3(1 in the pairs; J. Vocianovich. of Dargavilie, winning ihe loriner. and G. Wilding and R. Smith, of Whangarei, thi* pairs. For the second time, Ivl Hammond, of Kaitaia, had won the champion of champions, while Kaitaia had also won the pairs, a team led by W. Parker being successful. Bad weather spoiled the 'shield competition, hi which only five teams had competed. The shield had been successfully held by Ihe Wliangarei club, M. Whitelaw skipping tho winning team. Tlie president thanked Mr. A. Curtis,who. on the resignation of the secretary (Mr. E. B. Moore), had taken over tho position of secretary and treasurer. lie also thanked members of the executive for their assistance, and expressed to the incoming president a wish for a happy and successful year. The report anti balance sheet, which showed a satisfactory condition, were adopted. Officers were elected as follows; President. Mr. R. Scott (Hikurangi); vicepresident. Mr. E. B. Moore (Kensington); secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. H. Curtis (Kensington); executive, Messrs. G. Wilding (Whangarei), G. H. Cochrane (Hikuranei), J. H. Marwick (Whangarei), A. C. Smeaton (Kensington). B. H. Miller (Whangarei); auditor, Mr. A. C. Smeaton. P was decided to recommend to Ihe executive that the. annual fours tournament should be for a period of three days. Votes ol' thanks to the outgoing president and ex-cut iyc and to the Press, concluded the meeting.
