VEGETABLES
Sow early peas, lettuce, turnips, carrots, cabbage, beetroot, parsnips, spinach. Sow tomatoes in boxes in a warm sheltered place. Plant autumn-sown onions. Plant cabbage and cauliflower as available.
Try a few tomato plants in a sheltered, sunny position. Prick out early-sown tomatoes into boxes of good soil. Sow lettuce in boxes. Sow melons, cucumbers, and marrows under glass. Manure rhubarb beds. Animal manure or a composCsuper mixture may be used. Plant asparagus; also Jerusalem artichokes. Propagate herbs by division or cuttings. Pruning operations, especially of stone fruits, should be well under way.
