Northland Stock Sales
The North Auckland Farmers’ Co-Op, Ltd., report holding the following salt's during last week. — At Kamo on Wednesday w.o had a moderate yarding but competition foi anything showing quality was keen. Best dairy cows sold from £7/10/- to £9/15/-; backward cows. £5/15/- to £7/7/6; best dairy heifers, £6/5/- to £7/12/6; light fat bullocks. £ll/5/-; heavy prime heifers, £B/10/- to £lO/10/-; heavy fat cows, £B/7/6 to £9/10/-; medium prime cows, £7 to £B/5/-; fat Jersey cows. £4/15/- to £7; light runners, £2/10/- to £5/1/-; boner cows, heavy. £3/10/- to £4/6/-; lighter, £l/5/to £3/4/-; in calf heifers, £3/7/6. On Thursday we held a clearing sale on account of Mr R. Seales, Akerama. There was a good attendance and competition was keen throughout. The sundries sold exceptionally well and horses, cattle and pigs were well sought after. The cows were an average lot and sold from £8 to £l3/15/-, whilst a few very backward cows sold from £6 to £7/15/-. Yearling heifers sold at £3/12/-. Good farm horses sold to £32, whilst sows with litters sold from £B/10/- to £9, and a good cow dog made £6.
On Friday we held a horse fair at: Kamo and although the bidding was slow at the commencement the saie primed as it went along and good hacks, pontes and light horses generally sold well. Heavy and medium draughts were not wanted and there were only a few isolated sales. Prices were as follows: Heavy draughts, £2l to £27; medium draughts, £l6/10/to £24; light draughts, £l2 to £l3/10/-; good hacks, £l4 to £lB/10/-; other hacks, £8 to £l3/10/-; good ponies, £l2 to £l7; plain ponies, £3 to £10; mares and foals, £l2/10/-; unbroken horses, £3/10/- to £l2.
