Former Headmaster Of Kaitaia H.S. Retiring
(Special) AUCKLAND, This Day. Mr. C. E. Scott, headmaster at Kaitaia High School over 20 years ago, is retiring after 11 years’ service as headmaster of Gladstone School, Mt. Albert. Presentations are being made today in appreciation of his services. Mr. Scott has been teaching for 40 years, all in the Auckland Board’s district. Outstanding Personality Mr Charles Scott was largely instrumental in laying the foundations of secondary education in the Far North on a sound basis. Previously . the nearest high school had been at-Whangarei. The first high school classes at Kaitaia were hold in the A. and P. Hall and later ip ether buildings even less suitable. Overcoming these and other difficulties. Mr Scott inculcated a fine school spirit among the pupils of Kaitaia, both of the primary and secondary departments. A teacher of outstanding ability he placed first, emphasis on the moulding of character, and many of his old pupils are greatly in his debt for his friendship, stimulation in the classroom, coaching on the playing field and his interest and aid in the choosing of careers.' A returned soldier and a man's man, his was an example which any pupil Avculd-be proud to follow. •
