(8.0. W.) RUGBY, June 27. Allied patrols have been active in the Chin Hills in Burma thrusling deep behind the westward limit cf Japanese positions along the Fort White-Kalemyo road and embarrassing Japanese communications, according to an Allahabad message. The Japanese seem confined to this road to which they moved up last month, probably with the object ot occupying the Chin Hills as monsoon quarters and to secure the left flank for their Upper Burma defences against raids. These objects, says a message have not been achieved and the Japanese have new been halted. A Delhi communique states that American heavy bombers cn Friday attacked widespread targets in Burma. Railway installations and buildings in Monywa. Ywtaung and Mandalay were damaged. A radio station at Diamond Island was strafed. All our planes returned.
