THE YOUNG NORTHLANDER

DEAR NORTHLANDERS, My life of uselessness—Princess’ thought—came to an end on Wednesday when I returned to camp. I can trot around all right now although peculiar bumps pop up occasionally—a sort of “handle with care” notice hung out by my ankle. In some ways I’m glad to be going back to camp; in othrs I’m not. Helping prepare the very much diminished “Young Northlander’’ has been fun. It was like old times typing out the honours list—names of Northlanders and places that bring back memories of tours with Percy Projector, of the Centennial Exhibition and all the big things our Kupe Club has done since its inception. And inose. place names, mean something more. Pipiwai, Awanui, Paparoa and Broadwood. O'ur “Advocate” is truly Northland's own paper, and of course our Club is THE club for every young Northlander. Don’t be disappointed just because our page has shrunk. One of these days —in the not too distant future I hope —we’ll win this war we’re fighting, and happy days will be here again. The we’ll have a full page once more, bigger perhaps than ever before. Keep loyal, my followers. Persuade your friends to join the Club. We want a strong band when we embark on campaigns for bringing happiness into the lives of others as we will surely embark when things are normal and Hitler and Mussolini and the Japanese are nothing more than horrid memories. KUPE, tfangatira, . . Northland Tribe

Stamp Total We reach 825,172 today! How’s that for good going, Northlanders?

Good going it certainly is. And every stamp means just a liitle more casn for Northland Zone Patriotic fund.

Used stamps are wanted, Northlanders. Save all you can and despatch them to Miss Marjorie Maddren, “Advocate" Office, Water Street, Whangarei. She will count them and forward the stamps to the proper quarters. The more the merrier, Northlanders. Send in your stamps today. Birthday Greetings
