Mangonui County Staff Praised
The Mangonui County Council staff, though much reduced from its pre-war number, was the subiect of eulogistic remarks from all councillors at the council meeting on Wednesday. When, because of the sudden illness of Mr. C. McKinnon, the council was left without a county clerk, Mrs. Nilssen, who had been county clerk some 20 years previously, agreed to return to the position. The councillors expressed their appreciation of her return, and their gratification at the efficiency she had shown.
The county foreman (Mr. Holemby) was appointed when the county engineer (Mr. R. R. Torrie) was called up for military duties. The councillors expressed their satisfaction at the work he was doing for the council and the efficient manner in which he was managing x both the men and the machinery.
