Aero Works On Skyscraper Model
(Received 11 a.m.) NEW YORK, December 16.
A new aero-engine factory nearing completion at Detroit will dwarf Ford’s vast Willciw Run bomber plant. Known as the Dodge-Chicago plant it will be the world’s largest manufacturing unit consisting of 15 buildings, one of which is large enough to cover 50 city blocks. It will be capable of producing each week engines of a combined horsepower equal to the entire generating capacity of Bolder Dam, which is 975,000 horsepower. Enough water, gas and electricity will be supplied to serve a large-size city.
