Whangaroa Calf Club And Horticultural Show

The schoolchildren in the Kaeo district had a great day last Tuesday, when the calf clubs had their annual competition. This year flowers, vegetables, grasses, etc., were added for the first time, and as a result there were very many entries Heavy rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the young hopefuls, although it kept many of the parents away. Great credit is due to Mr. L. J. Meek, who organised the show, and to Mr. R. N. Palmer, the secretary of the calf clubs. The judges were: Calf section, Mr. F. G. Dibble, of Kaikohe; flower and vegetable section, Mrs. F. Maddox and Sergeant Oliver. Mi'. R. J. Partoon (president) presented the cups to the calf club prizewinners. The complete prize list is:—
