Ruakaka
Ruakaka held its weekly social evening in the local hall on Wednesday. The attendance was not as good as usual, but a happy time was spent by those present. Progressive euchre, darts and ping-pong made up the evening’s amusements. Winners of the euchre were Mrs. E. Robertson (ladies) and Master A. Whiting (men). The ping-pong prize went to Mr. G. Oldfield, and Miss Flora Antunovich received a prize for putting the tail on the donkey. Alter 10 o'clock games concluded, and supper was served by the young people. Dancing followed to music by Mrs. Oldfield, Miss Harriet Kepa and Miss M. Gillingham (piano) and Mr. O. Barton (accordion). Between dances a mystery parcel was handed to different ones present. causing a great deal of amusement. Miss A. Suvalko was the final recipient. A bobbing log cabin made plenty of fun. The winners were Mrs. Norman and partner. Miss G. Lyon and Mr. J. McEwen were the lucky winners of a Monte Carlo waltz. Mr. Noel Flyger was M.C. Personal Private A. A. Nicholas spent a few days’ leave recently at his home in Ruakaka. He and his wife left for the south, where Mrs. Nicholas will be staying at Putaruru Mr. and Mrs. G. Oldfield have as guests Mr. and Mrs. I. Hawkins, of Whangarei. Mr. and Mrs. W. Stockley. of Helensville, spent a short time in the district visiting relatives and friends.
