Records Broken At Kaitaia H.S. Sports

In fine weather Kaitaia District High School held its annual school sports in I the school playing fields on Tuesday, when i several school records were broken. Clive Wagner, who won the High School boys’ junior championship, broke the records for both the junior championship high jump and the long jump. In the first ne aadeci l%ins>. to last year's record of 4ft. 7!jins., and in the latter extended by 2 1 ,?.ins. the previous record of 15ft Sins. In the mile race of the High Seho'bl boys’ senior championship L. Price did his mile in sm. 195., cutting 3 r ss. off the previous record. The girls were record breakers, too. In the High School girls’ hop, step and jump, M. Kitchen, with a jump of Oft. Bins„ added 4ins. to the previous record. In the 100yds. High School girls’ senior championship. Trixie Job clipped a second oif lire previous record of 12 4-os. Championships were won as follows: — High School: senior girls, Trixie Job; junior gills, J. Price; senior boys, W. Matthews; junior boys, Clive Wagner tan outstanding win with 40 points). Primary School championships: Senior girls, Hilary Parker; junior girls, Caroline Torrie; senior boys, G. Louden; junior bovs, H. Job. In the interhouse points competition, in which every event except the tiny tots’ race counted, the High School results gave first place to Aotea with 129 points. Primary first place went to Tui with 214 points. The school staff, with the assistance of Mr. Cowie as starter, conducted the sports excellently, while a sound system, in charge of Mr, George Campbell, with Miss Clince as “radio announcer,” made the assembling of each event easy.
