Minister Has Last Word
“The opinion of one man is the weakness of the regulations. It does not matter how many hospital boards hold an opinion different from that of the Minister, it is the Minister's opinion alone that decides.” said the chairman of the Whangarei District Hospital (Mr J. A. S. Mac Kay), when considering certain regulations governing emergency hospital administration submitted by the Department of Health to the board.
Mr J. G. Draper: Why the need for these Has any board been playing up?
The chairman said he understood the dispute between the medical men in Auckland and the Auckland Hospital Board was a factor in the regulations. “There is nothing we' can do in the matter, but to receive and carry out the regulations in so far as this board is concerned.” This ‘was agreed to.-
