Want Dances To Finish Earlier

(Special) KAITAIA, This Day “In the present dangerous times, it is essential that all personnel be always fit for instant action. Loca dances cease at midnight or later, and although leave expires at midnight it is often much later before some of the men return to camp. They do not get the rest they need before going on duty. I therefore ask that the board make it a condition of licenses that all dances finish at 11.30 p.m.” This was the gist of a letter read at the Kaitaia Town Bokd meeting last night. “I feel we should comply with this request,” said the acting-chairman (Mr D. Archibald, sen.). Opinion among the members varied as to the desirability or necessity of the step suggested. Close At 11.30 p.m. “I do not feel that the half-hour would moke much difference,” said Mr W. Atkins. ”The onus should be on tlm men to get back to camp at the proper time.” After general discussion, the board decided to advertise that, in view of representations made to them, the Kaitaia Town Board had decided to ask dance committees to close down dances at 11.30 p.m. “They start pretty late at present,” said one member. “But there is really no reason why they should not start earlier and finish earlier-
