M. Blum’s 70th Birthday
NEW YORK, April 0. Two hundred prominent intellectuals, including Professor Einstein, Miss Dorothy Thompson. Sigrid Undset, Major Fielding Eliot, Louis Bromfield. Lin Yutang and Eddie Cantor, and also loaders of the Congress of Industrial Organisation and American Federation of Labour, signed a telegram congratulating M. Leon Blum, a former French Socialist Prime Minister, on his 70th birthday as a “stalwart champion of Labour’s rights, whose preservation are an essential pre-requisite for a democratic triumph over totalitarianism. We hail the inspiring defence at the Riom trial of the vital traditions and splendid future of Republican France.”
