American To Lead Eagle Squadron

(Rec. 3 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 18. C. G. Petersen, D.F.C., of Idaho, United States, aged 21, has been promoted squadron-leader. Pie succeeds Squadron-Leader S. T. Meares, English leader of the American Eagle Squadron, who was killed in a collision during a practice flight over Britain. Squadron-Leader Petersen has participated in over 40 sweeps and shot down five enemy planes. He becomes the first American commander of the Eagle Squadron.
