League Of Mothers

The League of Mothers’ held its monthly meeting on Thursday afternoon. The president (Mrs. J. A. Inkster), presided over a large attendance. The meeting opened with the singing of the league hymn, the reading of the aims and rules, and a special prayer for peace. The president welcomed Mrs. Ellm, who was the speaker for the afternoon, her subject being the common cold, its prevention and treatment. The speaker made it clear that to keep children free from colds is a matter of education in ordinary hygiene. Mrs. Ellin also demonstrated the process of sterilising utensils, bandages, etc., and how to handle sterilised articles. Mrs. Masters delighted members with two pianoforte items, while the singing circle also rendered two items which were much appreciated. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Ellin and the entertainers. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames McDell, Marshall, Aeteson and Penny.
