Contradictory Messages Can Be Rechecked
[Per Press Association. —Copyright] WELLINGTON, This Day. The Minister for Defence (Mr. Jones) stated today that official advices of members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force being missing have arrived almost simultaneously with private cables from the men. themselves stating that they are safe. “We have had a few cases of this kind reported to us,” said the Minister, “and we are sending a list of these cases back to the Middle East, reporting the discrepancy and asking for ? re-check. “Where these discrepancies have occurred and the next-of-kin in New Zealand report them to the director of base records, we will be only too pleased to have the information re-checked. It would be wise to supply the regimental number and unit of the individual concerned.”
