Luftwaffe General Killed
LONDON, May 25.
A German communique announces that a commanding general of the Air Corps (Colonel-General Crauer) has been killed during the campaign against Britain. It adds that attacks on Britain last night were directed against aerodromes in the Midlands and eastern England. Diving from the clouds, a bomber made a surprise attack on a southeast coast town on Friday morning. Buildings rocked as a stick of heavy bombs exploded. Anti-aircraft guns went into action, but the raider was apparently not hit, and it flew towards the French coast.
Little Activity Over Britain
One enemy aircraft was destroyed on Saturday off the south coast by Royal Air Force fighters. Enemy activity on Saturday night was very slight. Before dark a few bombs were dropped near the coast of East Anglia, which did some damage and injured some people. After dark bombs were dropped at one place in the west of England. Some damage was caused and a small number of casualties is reported.
