Referees’ Difficult Task In Rep. Trials

With players from the various clubs competing, the referees had a difficult task in sorting out the players in the ladies’ rep. trial games. Quicker and better results would be forthcoming if the association had made preparation for jerseys of the same colour for the trials. Each year the same difficulty is presented and the selectors, Mrs. Webb and Mrs. MacMillan also had a job to pick out the best players for the coming country week tourney. In the Possibles A v. Possibles B game the B team ran out winners by 4 goals to 2. Scorers were: B team, Misses B. Blanshard (2), E. Attwood and J. McKegg, while for the A team Misses E. Richards and A. Edge? scored. Probables A v. Probables B As in the former game the B team ran out the winners by 5 goals to 3. Scorers were: B team, Misses F. Cunningham (3), O. Litt and A. Dereck. A team, Misses A. Edge, L. Pohe and J. Smith. VETERAN’S DAY OUT Scoring four of his side’s total of seven, that redoubtable veteran, “Herbie” Hannam, certainly showed the boys “how” on Saturday. Letting the United C team do all the running in the, first half, wherein they held a two to one lead, the United B team withheld their “blitz” until the i.econd half when their barrage at the C team’s goal produced six goals in quick succession. United B carried too many guns for their clubmates. For United B: H. Hannam (4), B. Hannam, M. Green and Storey were the goalgetters, while Craven and Shepherd netted Cor United C. Messrs. Woolford and Johnson refereed.

LADIES’ B WOOLWORTHS JUST GET THERE Played at the school grounds, a very oven' and fast game resulted in victory for Woolworths over Old Girls by the odd gcal in three. For Woolworths Mrs. Lewis netted twice, while Miss L. Wilson scored for Old Girls. Referees were Messrs. Magee and Brown. RUNAWAY VICTORY FOR HORA HORA As the score indicates, 7 to 0, Hora Hora had no trouble in accounting for /.W.C.A. Although a new* team, Y.W.C.A. played well but never looked dangerous. Hora Hora’s goal-getters were Misses N. Frouse (3), J. Magee (2), M. Stuart and P. Norris. Messrs. Magee and Brown umpired.
