Poultry, Pigeon And Cage Bird Club

There was a record attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Whangarei Poultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Club, held on Saturday evening. In his report to the meeting, the president, Mr. R. Timewell, congratulated the club on the past year’s activities. which showed a very good effort on the part of all members and committees. This was reflected in the sound financial position of the club. Mr. Timewell also congratulated the members on the successful social evenings which have been conducted during the year. ■ These have proved most enjoyable. Show To Be Held In June

A discussion took place on the holding of a show this year, and the meeting decided to hold a two-day show in June, tentative dates being June 27 and 28. School Poultry Groups An outline of the proposed boys and girls agricultural poultry group it was proposed to form in the schools of the Whangarei county, was given by Mr. J. H. Dennehy schools’ agricultural instructor. This group gave promise of developing into a large undertaking, and Mr. Dennehy was promised the wholehearted support of the Whangrrei club, members donating 159 sittings for distribution to the children. Trophies Presented

During the meeting, Mr. D. Wilson, patron of the pigeon club, presented the trophies won by fanciers during the young bird flying season. Mr. D. Millington scooped the pool, winning the following trophies: Bowden Trophy for the Auckland interval race; Grant Trophy for the Frankton interval race; Gilbey Shield for the young bird average. Other fanciers were also presented with the pool monies won during the season. Officers Elected
