Whangaroa Local Body Finane
[Special to “Northern Advocate”] KAEO, This Day. Financial statements for the Whangaroa Harbour Board and County Council were placed before the meetings of the two local bodies at Kaeo last week. The estimates for the year 1941-42 as drafted by the county clerk were approved, it being decided to again levy rates amounting to 12d general, and 2 l-32d in each £1 unimproved value. Estimates submitted for the hospital board were approved by the council. The current year’s levy on the council will amount to a total of £llO2/0/6. made up of the maintenance levy (£950/8/5) and capital levy (£lsl 12/1). Under the provision of the Public Works Act the council intends taking the balance of the land necessary iof the legalisation of the road known as the Whangaroa Main Highway. Harbour Board The statement of accounts and bal-ance-sheet for the year ended September 30, 1940, as audited and submitted, was adopted by the board. These accounts are now open to the public for a period of 30 days. The board decided to call tenders for the painting of the Whangaroa' wharf and shed and the secretary’s residence in Kaeo. Also for the sale and removal of the Ladies’ Rest Room at Whangaroa.
The death has occurred of Miss Clara Josephine London, of Ponsonby, at the age of 82. She was the daughter of the late Mr. John London, former Liberal member qf Parliament for the Bay of Islands, and also the representative of two electorates, Onehunga and Raglan, on the. Auckland Provincial Council in the 50’s and 60’s. She was born in Onehunga and later lived in Awanui, Hokianga, Gnehunga and Auckland. :)
