Comedy, Thrills On New Plaza Programme

AMUSEMENTS

With a group of comedians comprising the cast of one picture and a gang of young “tough guys” taking the leads in the other, the two features on the new programme which opened at the Plaza Theatre last evening are well-balanced for entertainment.

Baby Sandy is the star of "Sandy Gets Her Man” and she is supported by a Comedy cast headed by Stuart Erwin. Endeavouring to win the affections of Sandy’s mother, two rivals, attached to the police department and fire department respectively, pay great attention to the baby, who gets mixed up in a series of escapades as the officers of the two departments endeavour to use the situatipn to secure larger grants for the extension of their work, the complications providing fine entertainment. The second feature, “Give Us Wings,” is a story of the unscrupulous use of young boys as, pilots of decrepit machines for crop spraying. Packed with the humour common to the “Little Tough Guys” who head the cast, the film is replete with plenty of thrills and daring aerobatic' flying.
