An increase of £690,178 in the level ol Government deposits, shown in the Reserve Bank return for the week ended Monday, May 19, is the chief factor in raising the aggregate of demand liabilities by £434,578. . „ „ „ „ Sterling exchange reserve at £21,267,306 is £233,951 higher. Proportion of reserve to notes and other demand liabilities is 54.418 per cent, compared with 54.557 last week.
