Strickland - Alabama Kid Fight Tonight

Although the weather is dull and overcast, the prospects for a good night appear bright for the open air boxing match between Maurice Strickland and the Alabama Kid al Falmerston North tonight. When interviewed this morning, both men expressed confidence ol victory.
The general feeling in the town is mixed. ! i
The Alabama Kid says: “Although I will be giving away a stone and a half, I have a feeling that I will win by s k.o. The pace is going to be a scorchei from the first gong.” Strickland says: “New Zealand flags will still be flying at the finish. I have beaten better men than the Alabama •Kid.”
Both men are pictures -of fitness, and a great bout is expected. Reservations are particularly heavy, and streams of people are arriving from Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, the King Country and Taranaki.
