Home Guard At Umawera

The biggest attendance seen at a meeting in the hall for some considerable time characterised the meeting called at Umawera to discuss the formation of a Home Guard in that centre. All eligible joined up on the spot. Altogether well over 20 men offered their services here. A well-attended meeting was held in the Takahue hall on Wednesday evening to discuss the formation of a Home Guard. Mr J. Stewart was chairman and the speaker was Mr W. Hoskin. Twenty-one members enrolled, and it is hoped that others will join to form a platoon, so that training will be in the district.
