Representatives of the Trades and Labour Council attended a meeting of workers from W. D. and H. O. Wills’ tobacco factory at Petone yesterday afternoon, and as a result a decision was reached to resume work this morning.
This announcement was made last night by the Minister for Labour (Mr Webb), who said that before the meeting lie was approached by representatives of the council and the workers, and he undertook, providing the workers returned to work, to set up an emergency disputes committee to deal with the question of the dismissal of a worker.
This committee, which consists of three representatives from each side, will be under the chairmanship of Mr J. A. Gilmour, S.M.
