[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day. Ninety-six thousand copies of a pamphlet instructing civilians in their duties in the event of emergency will be distributed to householders and business people throughout the Auckland metropolitan area next week. The pamphlets are now in the hands of the printers. This was announced last night by the Mayor (Sir Ernest Davis) at a meeting of the Auckland Emergency Precautions Organisation. Sir Ernest said the pamphlet incorporated a series of concise and simplified instructions, which would be a great guide to citizens, and would assist everyone to take the initial steps necessary to make any scheme of evacuation workable. “Metropolitan United Front.” Last night’s meeting was one of wardens and assistants of the organisation and was convened for the purpose of mobilising the home resources of what Sir Ernest described as “the metropolitan united front.” t The technical plans, he said, were well in hand, after 18 months of research and collation by men who were experts in their spheres. A sum of £28,000 had been provided for equipment and supplies to cope immediately with any emergency.
