Karamea W.D.F.U. Birthday Dance
In spite of other attractions and a small crowd, an enjoyable time was spent at the local W.D.F.U.’s birthday dance, in the public hall on Friday evening. Gay-ccloured streamers and autumn blooms made a brave show. The ping-pong table was fairly well patronised, and several challenge matches were played. Towards the close of the evenig, the president, Mrs G. A. Harvey, thanked all present for their patronage. The birthday cake was cut by Mrs Harvey—everyone receiving a piece, handed round by Pam and Keith Hannam. Mrs Litt, senr., was the winner of the cake weight-guessing competition. Peers-Adams, floral silk; W. Thomson, seagreen frock; F. Clark, striped French silk; K. Williams, black georgette; B. PeersAdams, tartan skirt, green jumper; Enid Porter, coral corded taffeta; Gunson, navy frock; Joy Babe, fawn skirt, blue jumper; Peggy Crawford, Air Force blue frock; Joyce Porter, waterlily green taffeta; Jean Crawford, rose shot taffeta; M. O. Cook, teal-green frock; Nancy O’Neill, . black selfstriped crepe; L. Thorburn, navy costume; C. Courtney, black costume; Pam Hannam, rose-pink frock; M. I. Courtney, navy pin-striped costume.
