Defeat Angers Little Wolf

WRESTLING

[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day. After the decision, had been given against Chief Little Wolf, in a wrestling match against Earl McCready at the Town Hall on Saturday night, the Red Indian showed his resentment by attacking his opponent after the final gong. He was quickly calmed down, however, and led out of the ring. Chief Little Wolf, at the commencement, confined his work to straight wrestling, but he introduced sufficient illegalities to annoy the referee, and in the sixth round of the contest a penalty fall was given against the Red Indian.

This was the only fall of the match. Strangleholds, rabbit-killer punches and a sublime indifference to the warnings he was (given were mainly responsible for earning the referee’s displeasure. However, in the main the Indian wrestled well, and he conceded McCready little in anything. McCready weighed 17st. 31b., and Little Wolf 16st. 51b.
