Resigns Secretaryship To Push British War Effort
(Received 12 noon) LONDON, May 8. Mr H. W. Butcher, M.P. (National Liberal, Holland with Boston) has resigned from his post of Parliamentary private secretary to Mr R. H. Bernays, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport. In a letter explaining his decision he says he feels that unless the war is conducted with greater speed and decision, peace will be delayed and the price of victory will be higher than is necessary. * He asks for release from his post in order to have greater freedom to support a more effective prosecution of the war.
