More Recruits In Northern Area Last Week
r Special to ‘‘Northern Advocate." 1 AUCKLAND, This Day. Recruiting in the Northern Military District last, week totalled 250, compared with 217 for the previous week, demonstrating the stimulating effect of parades such ns were held last week. The increased total for the whole district was borne by the Auckland and Paeroa areas. At Whangarei and Hamilton the enlistments were poorer than they were the previous week. Last week’s total of 250 European registrations was made up as follows, the previous week’s figures being shown in brackets. Auckland, 144 (103); Paeroa, 42 (19); Whangarei. 24 (32); Hamilton, 40 (63). Registrations for the Maori Battalion fell off from 40 to 23. Details were: Auckland, 0 (3); Paeroa, 9 (13); Whangarei, 10 (16); Hamilton, 4 (3). Four Here Yesterday. Four enlistments (two Europeans and two Maoris) were received at the Whangarei Army Office up to 9 o’clock this morning. The Europeans were: —Whangarei: L. D. Yates (Hikurangi). Kaikohe: A. W. Harrison (Moerewa). Maoris. —Kaikohe: N. P. Epitia (Kaeo), F. Tamati (Motukaraka).
