Drummond; preserves, Mrs. Potts; cooking, Mrs. Smith; pigeons. Mr. E. Gilbey; poultry, Mr. R. Timewell; side shows. Mr. F. J. Howie; weight guessing, Mr. W. T. Knowles; wool, Mr. W. J. Bell; women's institutes, Mrs. J. Ross. New Duties Allotted. To take advantage of the many additional offers of help and to relieve men already overworked, several new duties were allotted: Drill hall, Mr. H. O. Bowyer; main hall, Mr. W. Rowsoli: outside ground. Mr. C. Smith; decorations. Mr. L. Dent; street entertainments. Mr. J. Draper: old settlers day, Mr. E. L. Whimp. In cases where stewards were not present, the appointment was made subject to their consent. The proposal for an early settlors’ day was advanced further, when if was decided to ask Mr. E. L. Whimp to be chief steward of this activity. Old settlers would be entertained for the afternoon, and there would be special addresses, etc.. Mr. James explained. He also visualised a procession featuring methods of communication with appropriately garbed attendants “from the bullock dray to the present-day cigarette-smoking flapper in a flivver.” Negotiations were to be entered into with the railway and bus companies for special transport services. Clock Display Suggested. Mr. A. C. Clapham is to be approached to present his unrivalled display of clocks, spoken of as one of the most popular exhibitions ever staged at a Winter Show. It was stated that Mr. Clapham had added considerably to his collection since it was last shown about four years ago. Greater support than previously was anticipated for the feathered sections by the ex-president of the Whangarei Poultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Society (Mr. R. Timewell). It was .announced that Mr W. A. McLachlan had joined the secretary’s staff for the show period.
