Potter - Everett

Beautifully decorated by friends of the bride, the Presbyterian Church, Whangarei, made a perfect setting for the wedding of Joyce, only daughter of Mr and Mrs P. Everett, of Whangarei, to Murray, youngest son of Mr and Mrs R. H. Potter, of Remuera, on March 21. The ceremony was performed by Rev. W. Elliott, and the organist was Mr Trevor Dobson. The bride, who entered the church with her father, made a beautiful picture in her lovely gown of cream chiffon and lace over magnolia satin. The bodice had a heart-shaped neckline, and the skirt, which was very full and panelled with lace, fell in soft folds to the feet, and was slightly trained. The beautiful old lace and cream net veil she wore was held in place by a head-dress of orange blossoms, and formed a long train. Her bouquet of magnolias, tiny water lilies and cream roses completed a very charming toilette. The bride was preceded up the aisle of the church by the daintiest wee flower-girl, Jill Goodwin, while Miss Eileen Moran, of Auckland, attended as bridesmaid. Their frocks were fashioned on similar lines to that of the bride, and they carried beautiful shower bouquets in shades of gold and palest pink. The bridegroom was attended by Mr A. Brierley as best man. After the wedding a reception was held at the Warrington Studio, where Mrs Everett received her guests wearing a burgundy lace ensemble, with shoes and smart turban hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of dark red dahlias. Mrs Everett was assisted by Mrs Potter, who was gowned in black lace and georgette and smart black hat. Her bouquet was composed of red carnations. The bride’s going away frock was a very smart teal blue frock and wine coloured small hat and accessories. She wore over her frock a beautiful skunk fur coat when she and her husband left by car for Auckland.
