Mangapai Ball Function

On Saturday a large crowd attended the dance promoted by the hall committee to raise funds to install electricity in the hall. A “bring and buy” stall, well stocked with produce, cakes, etc., was sold out. Approximately £l4 was taken during the evening from the door and stall. Competitions were won by Master J. H. Carter and Mr J. Carter. A mystery waltz was won by Mr “Cook” McGregor, partnered by Miss Mavis Draffin. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr and Mrs Borthwick, of Auckland. Great credit, is due to Mrs Phil Carter for her efforts in connection with the “bring and buy” stall. Present were:—Mesdames P. Carter, black satin-beaute; G. Allely. Hayward, tartan skirt, yellow jumper; Kath Gilbey, mustard and clover colour frock; M. Finlayson, black velvet; Joy Lee, cyclamen satin; R. Lee, tartan skirt and green tunic; E. Gulbransen, pink voile with white coatee; M. Draffin, cyclamen chiffon; B.
