Belgian Cabinet To Continue

BRUSSELS, April 26. The Belgian Cabinet has resigned because the Liberal members of the Ministry opposed the Government’s education measure. The crisis is not regarded as serious. The Prime Minister (M. Pierlot) was not able to hand in the resignation because King Leopold went to a cinema. The Cabinet earlier had approved of taxes estimated to yield £8,500,000 for defence. King Leopold, states a later message, has accepted the resignation of the Cabinet. The retiring Prime Minister will, however, carry on until the Cabinet has been reconstructed. A later message states that M. Pierlot’s Cabinet has decided to remain in office at King Leopold’s request. King Leopold, in a letter to Mr Pierlot, said: “While the army is keeping a vigilant watch on the frontier, ft is no time to have a Government crisis.”
