Canadian P.M. Visits Roosevelt

NEW YORK, April 24. National attention is focussed on a visit being paid by the Prime Minister of Canada (Mr W. L. Mackenzie King) to President Roosevelt. President Roosevelt has warned the Press not to speculate about, the nature of their conversations, which are to be continued tomorrow, says the correspondent of the "New York Times" at: WarmSprings, Georgia. U is not known whether the discussions have touched on the status of Greenland and issues surrounding United States war exports to Canada. Sympathy With Allies. The President's warning does not alter the fact that the meeting, which is the first between the President and the head of any belligerent nation, gives point to the sympathies with the Allies of the President, and of average Americans. Speaking to journalists at Washington, Mrs Roosevelt opposed a war referendum. on the grounds that there might not be time. She said the people's representatives should be left free to act in emergency. Not Threatened Yet The President's wife added a warning against the “Trojan horse” tactics of subversion, together with a pica for civil liberties. “Even in the light of Norway's experience." she remarked, “we must not get the jitters. “The United States is not threatened yet, and the country is overwhelmingly opposed to sending men to fight in foreign countries."
