Fines For Riding Bicycles In Park
“I have observed this offence myself and perhaps the Press will give it some publicity,” said the Magistrate (Mr Fermer) in the Whangarei Court today. The borough traffic inspector (Mr J. H. Ashton) had informed the magistrate that the practice of riding bicycles in Central Park was quite prevalent and steps were being taken to have it stopped. Fines of 10/ with costs were imposed on Harold James Webster, Jerry Rado and Colin Maddren, each of whom was charged with riding a bicycle in the park, while Stella Gray was convicted and ordered to p&y costs. The magistrate said supervision would be exercised by the probation officer until the fines had been paid.
