Double Wedding At Broadwood

The Anglican Church, Broadwood, was the setting for a double wedding, when two daughters of Mr and Mrs J. Dodds, of Broadwood, Misses Ellen and Ida Dodds, married Messrs Walter Eddingon, late of England, and Mr Louis Plaisted, son of Mr and Mrs E. K. Plaisted, of Whangarci. The Rev. Cable, of Kohukohu, performed the ceremony, and Mrs Ramsey, of Kohukohu, presided at the organ. Both brides entered the church together, preceded by their brother, Mr Alf Dodds, of Kawakawa. The first couple to be married was Miss Ellen Dodds -(the elder sister) and Mr Walter Eddington. This bride wore a model frock of ivory satin, slim fitting, made with a lace yoke, tight-fitting sleeves and a long lace train. She wore a tulle veil richly embroidered, and carried a sheaf of salmon pink gladiolas. Miss V. Robertson, cousin of the bride, as bridesmaid, wore a frock of green net appliqued with green satin over satin, with a coronet of gold flowers, holding a net, shoulder length, throw-over veil. She carried a bouqeut of dahlias. Gael Mackenzie, flower girl, wore a long ivory satin frock made on princess lines, with little green satin bows from neckline to hem, which was edged with ivory lace. A tiny wreath of pink rosebuds was worn. Mr Arthur Harris supported the bridegroom as best man. Miss Ida Dodds was frocked in slim fitting iyory satin, with a cowl neck and full Russian sleeves. The train was appliqued with lace, and had a wide lace edging. The veil was also of lace, and she also carried a sheaf of salmon pink gladiolas. Mrs Alick Cavarey, of Auckland, sister of the brides, as matron of honour, wore a parma violet frock of taffeta, with a net yoke appliqued with satin. A coronet of flowers held her violet shoulder veil, in place, the bouquet being of matching asters. Ronald Cavarey, of Auckland, in an ivory satin page boy suit, was also in attendance. Mr Frank Dodds, brother of the brides, was groomsman.. After the wedding a reception was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, where over 100 guests were received by Mrs Bodds, wearing a navy blue ensemble and carrying a bouquet of tiger lilies, and by Mrs E. K. Plaisted, of Whangarei, who had chosen a navy and brown frock with a brown swagger coat.

The brides, when leaving for their respective honeymoons, wore: Mrs Eddington, who will make her home in. Broadwood, navy and pink frock, navy hat, coat and accessories. Mrs Plaisted, whose home will be in Whangarei, navy sheer, with white flower at neckline, navy toque and accessories.
